Professional Mattress Cleaning London
Mattress care needs controlled moisture and a clear drying plan. Tell us the size, construction and stain history so the accessible surfaces can be assessed before cleaning.

Drying before bedding returns

A mattress is more than its cover
The quilted cover, fillings and internal construction can react differently to moisture. A pocket-sprung mattress, foam mattress and removable topper should not be assumed to take the same treatment. The maker’s care guidance is useful and should be checked before cleaning. A cover that looks sturdy can sit over fillings that are difficult to dry.
When requesting a quote, give the mattress size and type if known, plus whether it can be turned safely. Tell us about toppers, zipped covers and any waterproof protector. Specify which sides and edges you want assessed. Cleaning a mattress does not automatically include the bed base, headboard, pillows or bedding; those items need their own scope.
Dust, marks and the history of a spill
Dry dust and loose debris are different from a stain that has penetrated into the fillings. Cleaning includes vacuuming and targeted pre-treatment before a suitable main method. Tell us how the mark happened and how long it has been there. Previous attempts with household cleaners matter because residues may remain in the cover.
For a large liquid spill or recurring odour, explain the amount and affected area rather than describing only the visible ring. Surface cleaning cannot guarantee that all material held deep inside the mattress is removed. A discoloured cover may stay marked after cleaning, especially when the fibres have been chemically changed. We discuss that limit before promising a cosmetic result.

Extraction, low-moisture care and suitability
Steam or hot water extraction, or a suitable dry method, may be considered according to the mattress. The actual choice must consider manufacturer guidance and the construction. Controlled application and recovery of moisture matter; soaking a mattress is not a substitute for a suitable cleaning process. Some constructions or damaged items may not be appropriate for wet treatment.
We do not claim that mattress cleaning sterilises the entire mattress or treats a medical condition. If a doctor has given specific advice, or a manufacturer restricts cleaning, tell us before booking. Raise fragrance sensitivities and product questions before booking.
Make the bedroom ready and plan where to sleep
Strip bedding and remove the protector before the appointment, keeping care labels available. Clear a route around the bed and explain the floor level and access. A heavy mattress may need help to move, and staff should not be expected to lift an awkward item without an agreed plan. Do not attempt to turn a large mattress alone if it is unsafe.
Plan enough time for drying before the mattress is used again. If it must be slept on that night, raise this during the enquiry. The room’s ventilation, humidity and the filling depth affect the practical timing. Putting bedding back onto a damp mattress can trap moisture, so the booking should allow for more than the cleaning time alone.

Urine, sweat marks and realistic expectations
Urine and other bodily spills may extend well beyond the surface cover. The source of an odour can sit inside the fillings and may not be reachable through surface cleaning. Tell us about repeated accidents, previous saturation or a protector that leaked. That history affects what treatment is reasonable and whether replacement should be considered.
Cleaning does not reverse age-related yellowing, repair torn fabric or restore compressed fillings. A sagging mattress remains sagging. Pest problems also need a separate assessment: mattress cleaning is not a guaranteed bed bug eradication service. Avoid using insecticides or improvised remedies before seeking appropriate advice about the actual problem.
A clear quote for the surfaces included
The published guide gives a general estimated range of £40–£100, without a confirmed mattress-size tariff. A quotation should specify the size, accessible faces, edges and stain treatment. If you have several mattresses, list each one and its construction. Confirm any minimum booking charge, VAT treatment and separate items before accepting the visit. No additional fees are added above the agreed quotation.
You can review the cleaning price guide for the published ranges. An upholstered headboard can be discussed under upholstery cleaning, while the bedroom floor belongs under carpet cleaning. Sharing an appointment does not mean those items receive the same process or are included without being quoted.

Aftercare and normal bedroom use
Follow the drying advice and leave useful ventilation where safe. The surface can feel dry while moisture remains in a deeper layer. Do not add a waterproof protector or tightly fitted bedding until the mattress is ready, and avoid forcing drying with intense direct heat. Ask about any positioning advice for the type of mattress you own.
A washable protector, used according to its care instructions, can reduce the impact of future spills. Regular care should follow the maker’s recommendations rather than involve repeated wet spot cleaning. Check coverage, then call with your postcode, mattress size and preferred date. The aim is a useful, clearly scoped clean with practical limits explained from the start.

A clear plan for your mattress
A mattress needs adequate time to dry through. Discuss construction, access and your sleeping arrangements with Fanatic before selecting treatment. A clear plan addresses soil and marks without promising sterilisation or a medical result.
Questions about mattress cleaning
Can you clean a memory foam mattress?
The manufacturer’s instructions and construction need checking. Do not assume it can be saturated or treated like a conventional sprung mattress.
Does mattress cleaning remove bed bugs?
It is not a guaranteed pest eradication service. A suspected infestation needs an appropriate pest assessment rather than relying on routine cleaning.
Are both sides included?
Agree the accessible faces and edges in the quotation. Some mattresses cannot be turned or have a single sleeping surface.
Can I sleep on it the same night?
That depends on method, construction and drying conditions. Discuss your deadline before booking and keep bedding off until it is ready.
Will urine odour always disappear?
No. Contamination held deep in the fillings can remain after surface treatment. Tell us about the history so the limits can be assessed.
Is the headboard part of mattress cleaning?
It is a separate item. Describe its material and request upholstery cleaning where suitable rather than assuming it is included.
Does cleaning fix a sagging mattress?
No. It does not restore compressed filling, springs or support. Cleaning and structural replacement decisions are separate.
