Carpet care, explained

A cleaner carpet starts
with the right approach.

Hallways collect tracked-in dirt. The space beside a favourite chair can look darker than the rest of the room. A spill may leave a mark even after the surface feels dry. These problems need different attention, so a useful clean starts with the carpet itself: its fibres, backing, condition and previous treatments.

Fanatic provides carpet cleaning alongside rug care and sofa and upholstery cleaning. Tell us about the areas you want cleaned, rather than simply asking for a standard room price. That helps establish the scope before you book.

Methods & materials

Extraction or low moisture?
The carpet decides.

Hot water extraction

Often called steam cleaning, this method applies cleaning solution and extracts the loosened soil and moisture. It suits some carpets, but is not a default for every fibre or backing. Pre-treatment and attention to particular marks form part of the assessment.

Dry and low-moisture cleaning

Our published service information also describes dry cleaning methods using less moisture. Discuss suitability if you have a delicate carpet or a space with limited drying time. Low moisture does not mean every material can be cleaned in the same way.

Mention any manufacturer’s care instructions when calling. The method and expected result should be agreed for your carpet, rather than chosen only by how quickly you want to use the room.

Know your fibres

Types of carpets we assess.

Wool & wool blends

Wool needs appropriate cleaning products and moisture control. Tell us the composition if you know it, and share the care label or purchase information.

Synthetic carpets

Polypropylene, nylon and polyester carpets can differ in how they hold dirt and react to treatment. Fibre type alone does not settle the stain-removal outcome.

Delicate & mixed materials

Viscose, silk, natural-fibre coverings and unusual backings need particular caution. Flag these at enquiry stage; do not assume an extraction clean is suitable.

Marks, odours & wear

Common carpet stains
and everyday problems.

Coffee, wine and food spills are not the same as ingrained dirt in a busy hallway. Pet accidents may affect layers below the visible pile. Cleaning can address soil, but it cannot reverse worn fibres, fading or physical damage.

Tell us what caused the mark, roughly when it happened and what has already been used on it. Avoid repeated scrubbing or combining household products before discussing the material.

For recurring odours, explain the history and where the problem returns. There may be more to assess than the surface. We will discuss realistic expectations rather than promise that every mark or smell will disappear.

A useful starting point

Carpet cleaning prices.

These prices are a guide. Confirm the included work, total and VAT before booking. No additional fees are added above the agreed quotation.

Small room · up to 10m²

From £30

Published range £30–£50

Medium room · 10–20m²

From £50

Published range £50–£80

Large room · 20–30m²

From £80

Published range £80–£120

From £25

Published range £25–£45

The final amount depends on the area, material, condition and work agreed. Tell us about heavy soiling, individual stains, pet odours and access. Confirm the treatments included in the total; a From price is a guide rather than the confirmed quote for every room. No additional fees are added above the agreed quotation.

For loose rugs, upholstered furniture or a workplace, use the relevant service page and request an item-specific quote.

From enquiry to aftercare

How our carpet cleaning
service works.

Tell us about the job

Call with your postcode, room sizes, carpet type if known and the main concerns. Mention parking, stairs and any restrictions on access.

Confirm the scope

Discuss the suitable method, the areas included, the price and appointment availability. Ask about furniture moving and what to prepare.

Clean & plan the aftercare

The work should follow the agreed scope. Ask for drying guidance and when to return furniture or use the space normally.

Drying varies with fibre, method, ventilation and room conditions. Allow for that when arranging the appointment; a universal drying-time promise would not be useful.

Why choose Fanatic?

The details matter
before the visit.

Our service pages cover more than fitted carpets. You can discuss rugs, fabric upholstery, leather seating, curtains and mattresses without assuming they all need the same treatment.

A direct conversation

The phone enquiry gives you room to explain the problem and ask practical questions before agreeing the work.

Material-specific planning

Discuss extraction and lower-moisture options in relation to the actual carpet, not a generic promise.

An agreed scope

Clarify the area, stain treatment, access and aftercare so the quote is useful for your job.

Homes & workplaces

Domestic and commercial
carpet cleaning.

At home, think about furniture, children or pets using the room, and where you can ventilate while the carpet dries. Include stairs and landings in the enquiry if they need attention too.

A workplace enquiry needs different detail: approximate floor area, occupied desks, high-traffic zones and the hours when access is possible. Discuss a manageable cleaning plan before committing to a date.

For larger workspaces, visit office carpet cleaning and explain any building-management requirements. Do not assume out-of-hours work or a maintenance contract is included without confirmation.

Before you book

Frequently asked
questions.

Need advice for your own room? A quick call can clarify the scope before you choose a date.

How much will my carpet cleaning cost?

The published room guide starts at £30 for a small room. Your quote depends on the area, carpet and work required. Confirm the included work, complete total and VAT before booking. No additional fees are added above the agreed quotation.

Which method is right for my carpet?

The current service information describes hot water extraction and dry, lower-moisture methods. Suitability depends on the fibre, backing, condition and manufacturer’s instructions. Mention those details when you call.

Can you remove coffee, wine or pet stains?

Results depend on the stain, material, age and previous treatment. Describe the cause and any products already used. Permanent colour changes or damaged fibres may remain after cleaning.

How long does a carpet take to dry?

There is no single time for every carpet. Method, fibre, ventilation and indoor conditions affect drying. Ask for guidance for your rooms and keep the planned access in mind.

Do I need to move furniture?

Discuss the items in each room before the visit. Clarify what can be moved, what should be cleared and which areas will be accessible; do not assume heavy furniture moving is included.

Can I book sofa or rug cleaning as well?

Yes, the published service range includes rugs and sofa and upholstery cleaning. Describe each item so its method, scope and price can be considered separately.

Do you clean office carpets?

There is a separate office carpet cleaning service. Include the floor area, access hours, occupied zones and any building rules in your enquiry. Confirm scheduling before booking.

What should I mention about children or pets?

Explain any household concerns and ask about the products proposed, access to treated areas and drying advice. No cleaning-product safety claim should replace advice for your situation.

Do you cover my part of London?

Call with your full postcode and the service you need. The coverage page lists our London service areas; appointment availability must be confirmed.

How often should I arrange a professional clean?

Base the decision on traffic, visible soil, spills and the carpet manufacturer’s care advice. A busy hallway and a lightly used bedroom may need different schedules. Ask about your carpet rather than relying on one interval.

We’ll talk through the options.
